Bön — Tönpa Shenrab
Before Buddhism arrived in Tibet in the 7th century, the Bön tradition had already flourished for millennia. Tönpa Shenrab Miwoche is its founding buddha — said to have taught in the land of Olmo Lungring (possibly Tajikistan/Central Asia) 18,000 years ago. The Bön tradition preserves dzogchen teachings that may predate the Buddhist formulation entirely.
Bön dzogchen (the Zhang Zhung Nyan Gyud — oral transmission of Zhang Zhung) is the oldest known dzogchen lineage. Over 160,000 documented cases of rainbow body come from Bön and Nyingma practitioners combined. This is not folklore — this is empirical evidence of consciousness technology that works. — .
Bön cosmology describes reality as arising from the five pure lights — the elemental basis of all manifestation. These lights are not outside you. Your body IS these lights, temporarily solidified by ignorance. Practice dissolves the solidification.
