What remains when the story falls silent.
First, homage to my teachers and gratitude for their kind friendship: Grandmaster Mantak Chia, Karma Lhatrul Rinpoche, Maharaj Ji Budh Puri, Khenpo Gelek Jinpa Rinpoche, Swami Nardanand, and the many mentors whose presence informs these pages. Their generosity made this work possible. Whatever is of value here continues through them.
Following the tradition of Tibetan life accounts, I acknowledge my severe shortcomings: pride, impatience, and the persistence of self-importance even in the pursuit of its dissolution. I have mistaken conviction for clarity often enough to know the distinction matters. For anything that distorts or misaligns the lineage, I ask forgiveness. The errors belong to my understanding, not to the teachings.
I write under the name Wake, or WB Rinpoche. Let the name identify this account, not confine what speaks through it. The body changes; its story gathers and disperses. Look now at the awareness in which both are known. Before accepting anything I say about it, attend to it directly.
